The Foundation and Early Ambitions
Dr. Sheikh’s journey commenced in 1998 when he successfully earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Karachi University. Driven by a profound desire to serve, he officially began his medical career in 1999 as an Internship Medical Officer at the largest hospital in Pakistan.
A Journey Across Continents
To expand his medical expertise on a global scale, he traveled to the United Kingdom, where he undertook clinical attachments at Cromwell Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital between 2000 and 2005. In 2006, his pursuit of excellence led him to Australia, where he joined Ballarat Health Services as a Hospital Medical Officer. Over the years, he progressively advanced through rigorous training in Intensive Care and General Medicine, dedicating countless hours to mastering complex patient care.
Clinical Leadership and Impact
Today, as a dual citizen of Australia and Pakistan, Dr. Sheikh stands as a distinguished clinical leader in Melbourne. Since 2018, he has been serving at Monash Health as a General Physician, where he expertly manages high-acuity cases and oversees an average caseload of 25 patients per day, providing culturally sensitive care to a diverse immigrant population.
Simultaneously, he holds the esteemed position of Associate Director at the Cunningham Perioperative Unit within Cabrini Hospital. In this leadership role, he directs a team of 15 to 20 medical consultants and oversees comprehensive medical consultations for up to 30 surgical patients daily.
Beyond his demanding clinical responsibilities, he is a published author with research featured in the Internal Medicine Journal, and he remains deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals as a clinical educator.
